Muse sign-up guide: age check, invite codes and the waitlist

Muse is the personal AI agent Meta announced on 8 September 2026. It can connect to your email, calendar and other apps and get things done for you. Everything below is accurate as of 30 September 2026; Meta can change any of it, so the official pages win if they disagree.

At a glance: signing up for MuseLog in at muse.ai or in the mobile app. If the next screen is a notice with three points, you passed the region check; if it asks you to join the Muse waitlist, stop there. Then verify your age one of three ways, redeem any invite code in Settings within 48 hours, and add connectors later. Step 2 decides it: the three-point notice means you passed the region check; the waitlist screen means stop and read the waitlist section below.

The short version

  • Where: Meta only says Muse is “not yet available everywhere” and publishes no country list. First-hand evidence exists for two markets, the US and Canada.
  • What you need: a Meta account, an age of at least 18 (or the local age of majority if higher), and one age check.
  • Invite codes: not required to join. They only add usage for you and the person who invited you.
  • Apps: web, iPhone, Android and Mac. There is no Windows app.

Sign-up, step by step

  1. Open muse.ai in a browser, or open the mobile app. Enter a phone number or email under “log in or create an account”, continue, and enter the code you receive. If you already use Facebook or Instagram, you can log in with the Meta account behind them (Meta Help Center).
  2. If the next screen is a notice listing three points — Muse can act on your behalf, it keeps working after you close the app, and you decide in settings what it can access — you have passed the region check. Tapping Start means you accept the Muse terms and Meta’s AI terms.
  3. If the next screen asks you to join the Muse waitlist instead, stop and read the next section.
  4. Next comes the age check. Pick one of three methods, covered below.
  5. Once you reach the chat screen, redeem any invite code you were given in Settings within 48 hours.
  6. Connectors such as Gmail or your calendar can wait. Add them later under Settings → Connectors (Meta’s guide).

What the waitlist page means

The waitlist page says Muse isn’t open in your country or region yet and that Meta will let you know when it is. Its only button adds you to the waitlist. In plain terms, Meta has decided your current location is not in a launched market.

Meta doesn’t explain how it decides. Going by a large number of user reports, it looks at the network you connect from: an exit outside the US and Canada almost always lands here, and some users say US exits on datacenter or well-known proxy networks are turned away too. That comes from user experience, not a published Meta rule. For a point-by-point check of your exit, see Stuck on the Muse waitlist?

Age verification

The Muse supplemental terms set a minimum age of 18 (muse.ai/terms). During sign-up you get three options:

  • Verify with a credit card: the form asks for card number, expiry date, security code, country or region and postal code, and shows the Visa and Mastercard logos. The page states that US$1.00 will be charged and returned within 5–7 business days.
  • Link an Instagram account.
  • Link a Facebook account.

Meta’s Help Center has no page on this step yet, so the following comes from user reports: some Visa and Mastercard cards issued by Chinese banks have worked, while some virtual cards fail; if your sign-up email already belongs to a Facebook account, or you link a long-standing Facebook account, you may not need a card; and if linking Facebook shows an error, opening muse.ai in a new tab often shows you are already in. Enter your card’s real billing details.

Invite codes

Invites are a built-in feature. After you log in, an Invite button at the top right of the chat screen shows your own code. The invite screen explains that when a friend redeems your code in Settings within 48 hours of joining, you each get 1 billion Muse tokens, and it shows how many uses the code has left (30 at the end of September 2026).

  • Where to redeem: in Settings. Replies from Meta’s official Threads account give the path as Settings → General → Redeem invite code, on the web or in the app.
  • How many uses: early press coverage mentioned a cap of 20 invites, which differs from what the app shows now. Trust the remaining count shown in the app.
  • How it shows up: redeemed tokens appear under Usage in Settings as a separate “Additional tokens” line, currently marked “Never expires”. The terms also say promotional credits may expire within a period stated in your account, so check your account page.

Users report four common reasons a code fails: more than 48 hours have passed since you joined, the code has no uses left, you already redeemed someone else’s code, or you typed it into the cloud browser Muse uses for its own tasks. For the last one, use your own browser or the app instead.

Accounts or token balances sold online do not come from Meta, and nobody can guarantee who controls them.

Downloads: the official sources

Meta’s download page is ai.meta.com/muse/download. It has three buttons only: macOS, the App Store and Google Play.

  • Web: muse.ai, with phone or email login. This is the option for Windows.
  • iPhone: listed as “Muse from Meta” by Meta Platforms, Inc. Free, iOS 18.0 or later, rated 17+. Of the 26 App Store regions we checked, it appears only in the US and Canadian stores, so you need an Apple account in one of those two regions.
  • Android: package com.facebook.aura on Google Play. The store page opens anywhere, but whether you can install depends on your Play account’s country; users report that accounts outside the US cannot install it. APK mirror sites are third-party sources.
  • Mac: the build we checked on 28 September is Muse-4.1.dmg, about 34 MB, signed by Meta Platforms, Inc. and notarized by Apple. SHA-256: 7a407afc995365da2a21445a123d9609cfb2a285fa9cf859aee8430551a74561. It runs on Apple silicon only and needs macOS 14 or later, so Intel Macs can’t install it. On first run it asks for Full Disk Access, Automation and Notifications (Meta’s guide).
  • WhatsApp: Meta’s site says you can chat with Muse directly in WhatsApp.

GitHub projects named muse-desktop (including a “Community Patch” Mac build and a Windows build) and “Meta Muse for Windows” on download sites are not published by Meta. We don’t recommend installing them.

Official Muse apps and their limitsThe web version at muse.ai uses phone or email login and is the option for Windows. The iPhone app needs a US or Canadian Apple account, Android install depends on your Play account country, the Mac app runs on Apple silicon only, and there is no official Windows app. Official Muse apps and their limits Web muse.ai Use on Windows Phone or email login in your browser iPhone US / Canada only Needs a US or Canadian Apple account, iOS 18.0+ Android Play account country Google Play package com.facebook.aura Mac Apple silicon only Needs macOS 14 or later; Intel Macs can’t install it Windows No official app Windows builds found online are not from Meta Official download page: ai.meta.com/muse/download It has three buttons only: macOS, App Store, Google Play.

Check your exit before you sign up

User reports suggest Muse decides your region from the network you log in on, and that the type of network matters as well. So before signing up it is worth a minute to see three things: which country your exit is in, whether it is a home, mobile or datacenter network, and whether your browser reveals a second IP through WebRTC or DNS.

The Muse sign-up check shows all of this at once, plus a short pre-sign-up checklist. If you are in the US or Canada already, it is also a quick way to confirm that a VPN, iCloud Private Relay or similar service isn’t routing you somewhere else. How each result is worked out is on the methodology page; AI service availability for each country is on the United States and Canada pages.

One caveat: Meta’s subscription notes require you to be located in a country where Muse is available, and accounts created by getting around the region check may be restricted or disabled. This site only runs checks. It cannot promise that any network will get you through sign-up.

FAQ

Do I need an invite code to sign up?

No. According to the invite screen, codes are redeemed in Settings after you join, and they only add tokens for both people.

How long is the waitlist?

Meta hasn’t published a timeline or the next markets. The page only says you’ll be told when Muse opens where you are.

Do I get the US$1 back?

Yes. The verification page says it is returned within 5–7 business days. If you’d rather not use a card, link Instagram or Facebook instead.

How much can I use for free?

Meta says Muse is free with a usage limit; when you run out you can upgrade or wait for it to refresh, and the settings page shows the free plan resetting weekly. Paid plans are Power at US$20 a month with 500 million tokens a week, and Maximum at US$100 a month with 3 billion a week (Meta’s subscription help). A figure of 100 million free tokens a week comes from press reports; Meta hasn’t published a number.

How do I use Muse on Windows?

There is no Windows app. Use muse.ai in your browser. Every Windows installer found online is unofficial.

Which kind of IP do you have?
